09 NOV 2006 - Tim Fix Scholarship Fund Holiday Cards Are Now Available
Christmas Card
Purchase a card
All the proceeds from the sale of these cards go directly to the Tim Fix Scholarship Fund. Tim, along with Joe Bee, were Eastern Illinois University wrestlers and college roommates of Matt Hughes. Both Tim and Joe died in a tragic drowning accident at EIU in May 1996. Tim's parents created a scholarship fund in their son’s memory to benefit college students. Each year, Tim's parents give out from fifteen to twenty $500 scholarships. The students are selected not necessarily by their academic performance but by whom Tim’s parents feel their son would have chosen to receive the scholarship. To date over $100,000 has been raised and distributed. This is the 7th year the cards have been sold. Tim's aunt, Sue Shanahan, an artist and illustrator, creates each year's card in memory of Tim and Joe. The cards are $20 for a package of 10. They can be purchased by going to www.SueShanahan.com Your support is greatly appreciated.

04 OCT 2006 - What the Fans Are Saying About UFC 63
We've received so many messages of support and congratulations for Matt's victory over BJ Penn, that we thought we should share a few of them with you.
(Messages may be edited for length or clarity)
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I prayed and prayed!!! My family and I were on the edge of our seats!! The power of a man with Christ in his heart and a guardian angel on his shoulder is an awesome sight!!!! WOW!! Thank you!!! You are an incredible asset to the UFC!!!!!
Buffy
I was so nervous anticipating your fight with B. J. Penn. You proved, once again, that you are the best 170 pounder in the world. I am so happy. Thank you and God bless!
Chuck
WOW!! LOVED watching this fight!! My husband and I were GLUED to the TV, and I was practically jumping out of my seat! We knew that you would pull through! You are TRULY an amazing man, husband, father, Christian and fighter! I can't imagine doing all the PR, training and traveling that you do, yet you still stay grounded and focused on the most important things in life.
Yes, indeed, "You can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens you"!!!
Keep up the great work- you're an inspiration and positive role model to so many people.
Jenn & Tobie
You are the reason I began watching the UFC. You are such a amazing fighter. I am also from small town Illinois, and also went to EIU from '93-'97. I know you get thousands of emails a day, but bottom line from me is, you are an icon for America, small town America, and more importantly as your fight song says for the All-American country boy. Congrats on your win over BJ, you are truly a warrior, thanks for the inspiration you give in regards to your heart and even more importantly in regards to our saviour Jesus Christ.
Anthony
I just wanted to say how proud we are of Matt. I am the mother of the little boy that Matt sent the autographed photo/letter to...Malachi. We watched intently as Matt fought BJ. We were on the edge of our seats. My son, Malachi was about to cry as he stared at Matt caught in the triangle. He was screaming at Matt..."You said never give up...Never give up!" (what Matt had wrote to him) We were all silently saying a little prayer. Matt had us all a little worried. But he endured, he didnt give up. He kept his word to Malachi. It really made me tear up when I read his post fight interview on ufc.com to find that while in the triangle, he himself relaxed and said a little prayer to get him through. Basically, I am writing to say thanks to Matt for being an excellent role model for our children and especially Malachi. I also want to tell him that all his fans are right there with him...praying for him. Thanks, Matt for your humbleness...for the Christian you are...and for never giving up. Your words and your actions help Malachi get through his rough times in life. As Dana said, you are the greatest fighter ever seen. Excellent job!
Shawn, Shelly, Malachi & Cohen
As a huge fan of Matt I have to say I have never been more proud of his heart, his character and resiliency. Matt Hughes is a true champion and one of a kind.
Susan
How many homeschooling families do you know that have to start out Monday morning watching Matt's fight against BJ Penn? For various reasons, we were unable to watch the fight live and had to tape it. So this morning my 6 kids were eager to watch the fight (and rewind it and watch it again) before they started school!
We wanted to let Matt know that we were thrilled to read his testimony on the website. We had always wondered if he was a Christian. Even just watching him on TV, we could tell that there was something different about the way he acted. So, on a whim I decided to do a search and was rewarded by finding this site and thus his testimony.
Thanks, Matt for being a great role model for a homeschooling family!! Just goes to show that you never know who is watching you!
Christy
Matt, you are an inspiration. I find it incredible how humble you are and yet how you dominate your sport. Thanks for your religious example and your down home attitude. You represent this country well. Keep putting show boats in their place.
Shane
This is the first time in my life I've sent an e-mail/letter to a sports figure/celebrity, etc. I would just like to say that in this world of show-boating, self-serving social "icons," it is truly phenomenal to see someone that exhibits integrity, humility and, most importantly, thanks and observance to Christ, with his success. I am a Christian: someone who has committed my life to Christ, and knows that I am helpless without Him. To see you express this with your wins in MMA is just great. I'd like to also say I've never seen a fighter that exemplifies more the qualities a champion should possess, as well. After seeing the Hughes/Trigg fight, I didn't think I would ever see as incredible a comeback, until the recent BJ Penn fight. I watched my recording over and over, at least a dozen times; I will never see perseverance as strong as in this fight, to overcome the adversities encountered. I have a young son that I recently got involved in martial arts, and I look forward to showing this recording to him someday. Thank you for bringing such humility to the sport.
Tom

31 MAY 2006 - What the Fans Are Saying About UFC60
We've been receiving a tremendous amount of mail from fans in response to Matt's victory over Royce Gracie. The outpouring of congratulations and support has been overwhelming. So we decided it would be great to showcase just a small sampling of some of the comments we've been receiving.
(Messages may be edited for length or clarity.)
Congratulations on your win. I had no doubt. I was so excited for you and I wasn't even fighting. The best part is that you thanked God and acknowledged him. I have a lot of respect for you as a fighter and as a family man. Good luck to you in the future. I will continue to support you and watch your career grow.
-John
Congrats Matt! Great win over Gracie. Just wanted to let you know that it is really awesome to have a true Christian representing the Welterweight Belt. Good luck in the future.
-Jason
I would just like to send this message to Matt saying WAY TO GO! You are truly one of the best fighters the world has have ever seen!
-Greg
I think you could be the greatest fighter of all time, even though you are already the most dominant ever. I hope you continue to compete until you can't anymore and I hope you are at the best at your game when it is time to hang em up. I love watching you fight, the way you stare your opponent right in the face the whole time before you guys fight. You are probably the smartest fighter I have seen, the way you want to continue learning, that is an unbelievable talent that is greatly forgotten. You have been a big inspiration and influence in the way I live my life. Keep up the hard work, and never lose the passion because nobody can compete with you.
-James
I saw your fight with Royce, man that was excellent...I just wanted you to know you are a great inspiration and a perfect example of what MMA really is.
-John
IT WAS GORGEOUS, SO ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL WORDS CANT DESCRIBE IT!!!! I WAS UP OUT OF MY CHAIR YELLING SCREAMING MORE THAN I HAVE EVER DONE IN MY LIFE!! MATT TOTALLY DOMINATED LIKE NONE OTHER I HAVE EVER SAW, I DO HAVE TO GIVE CREDIT TO ROYCE FOR THAT AMAZING WILL NOT TO TAP TO THE ARM, BUT MATT WAS SO INCREDIBLE, HE DID BETTER THAN I EVER EXPECTED, MY HATS OFF TO YOU MATT, TRULY AN AMAZING FEAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-Mac
Awesome job tonight, Matt!! That was such a great fight! You always put God first and that's amazing! I can tell by the way you fight and how you train others that your gym is the best. Not only does your gym train people on how to fight, it trains with respect for others and for God! Congratulations on the fight and continue to stay true to yourself, because your personality, manners and kick ass training is what makes you a great fighter! A country boy can survive! God Bless!
-Jessica
I want to point out how impressed I am with the class that Matt showed after he beat mine and many other people's legend: Royce Gracie. Matt truly showed why he is the champion. He surprised me with such respect, but he was very humble and great. That has changed my opinion of Matt and gained my respect. Great job! Lots of people are good fighters, but only true champions carry it like Matt did that night.

22 MAY 2006 - Fake MySpace Accounts
Well, unfortunately, it seems that people are still being duped by imposters on MySpace. We've been able to get one of these fake sites shut down, but there are others. Here are some of the imposters to watch out for:

M A T T ! ! ! (added 26 May 2006)

Below is a photo taken of Matt that lists the fake accounts that we know of right now, this is the "MySpace Salute" that we used to get the first site on this list shut down. However, the other three are still active, so be careful that you don't get fooled. If Matt ever does decide to start a MySpace site, then we will announce it here and post a link on the front page. Otherwise, don't be taken in by liars and imposters.

13 MAY 2006 - New Video Series: Training for UFC 60
Over the next few weeks, we will be offering an exclusive glimpse inside the MFS camp as Matt prepares for his fight with Royce Gracie on May 27th. About once a week or so, we will be adding more clips which will be at least 30 seconds to a minute long. Enjoy.

27 MAR 2006 - My Week at MFS
This is Nathan Rosario, the webmaster for this site, and last week I got to spend a few days in Iowa with Matt and the rest of the Miletich camp.  Like many others, this has been a dream of mine for years and it turned out to be a much more awesome experience than I could have imagined.  I was there to get reference material for a project that we will be showcasing here on the site in the next week or so (if you've been active in the forums, you've already seen it; but keep your eyes on the Fan Art section); however I was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes of the hardest working team in the MMA world.
What impressed me the most was the intensity of their training.  I've witnessed (and participated in) some tough workouts in my days in the Army; but that was usually motivated by some Drill Sergeant yelling and threatening young kids who were only pushing themselves because there was a maniac screaming into their ear.  This was different because nobody was in that gym who didn't want to be there.  Everybody was there to push themselves and their teammates as hard as they possibly could.
Even the SpikeTV camera crew (who were shadowing Matt the whole time) commented on how the training that goes on in the Miletich gym is more intense than anything they had seen in other gyms.  Nobody is working harder than these guys, it's the best gym in the world to train at and everyone there knows it.
I was actually caught a bit unprepared when I got there.  I had no idea that Matt and Pat Miletich would let me lift weights with them, so I showed up the first couple of days in regular clothes.  But they put me to work and I'm still sore as I type this.  So if you see video footage of some joker working out in blue jeans, then you'll know what happened.
Let me just finish by saying that Matt is in the best physical condition of his career and ready to step into that octagon and fight Royce Gracie right this minute.  I'm not in the habit of predicting the outcome of fights, but I don't believe that Royce is prepared for what he is about to face.  And I'm confident that he is not training at anywhere near the same level of intensity that Matt is training right now.

25 MAR 2006 - A Special Thanks to Kevin's
Chris Zielinski of Kevin's was responsible in getting Army of One Beanies donated to the Rancho 3M orphanage this past week. It was the first corporate donation we have received to this point, but hopefully not the last. We have been working with Chris and his company over the past couple of months on a few new products to be introduced soon and we would like to publicly thank Chris and the management team at Kevin's for their generosity. Their website is www.kevins.biz

17 MAR 2006 - MySpace Imposters
It has recently been brought to our attention that there are individuals on MySpace claiming to be Matt. Just to set the record straight, Matt does not have a MySpace account. He has never had an account and has no plans to start one. So, simply put, anyone on that site claiming to be Matt is a fraud.
