I got my work ethic from doing stuff around the farm. Not because of pay (even though sometimes I get a few bucks) but because the work had to get done and if I was going to benefit from what the farm produced I should help in the production.
I remember one spring we had purchase a smaller plot of land that was adjacent to a couple of our fields and my dad took me adn one of my buddies out there after school and followed us with the front loader while we picked up rocks. we made a game out of it, but it needed to be done and he had a couple of strong backs to utilize. I also learned that if a neighbor needed help, you helped, because it was the right thing to do. No one told you you had to, but you were able to figure out the best way to help and did it.

Good blog! I loved the story of the professor and do hope it was true so that maybe a few eyes have been opened.
My advice to President Obama, "Don't bite the hands that feed you"!
