Would you rather be back in the UFC rather than Strikeforce?
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:30 Dave
12:30 Robbie Lawler: I'm with Strikeforce and that's all that matters. That's who I'm under contract with.
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:30 Robbie Lawler

How much longer do you intend to fight?
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:30 Ryan
12:30 Robbie Lawler: Five or six more years.
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:30 Robbie Lawler
12:31 Robbie Lawler: I'm only 29. Not thinking retirement.

What would you dream fight be? Where/When/Who... and for what belt if any?
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:31 Steve From Canada
12:31 Robbie Lawler: I'm not sure. I haven't really thought about that. Maybe Georges St. Pierre.
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:31 Robbie Lawler
12:31 [Comment From VikashVikash: ]
What is Adlan's biggest weapon when he fights you? How have you prepared for it?
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:31 Vikash
12:32 Robbie Lawler: I think he's pretty explosive, and his kicks are pretty good, so you try not to get hit, which is usually the point in all fights.
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:32 Robbie Lawler
12:32 Robbie Lawler: I'm just thinking about the way to win. I don't have too much of a specific game plan. I just train in all aspects, put myself in the best situation possible to win.
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:32 Robbie Lawler
12:33 [Comment From SteveSteve: ]
Do you think you can still beat the best guys in the UFC?
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:33 Steve
12:33 Robbie Lawler: I think I could beat anybody, and otherwise I wouldn't be in this game. I know what I'm capable of and if I'm 100 percent I know I can beat anybody.
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:33 Robbie Lawler
12:33 [Comment From RickRick: ]
Adlan seems like a mostly stand up fighter so far in his career are you looking to find a weakness in his ground game potentially ? Or keep things standing ?
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:33 Rick
12:34 Robbie Lawler: I'm just trying to look for a way to win, period.
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:34 Robbie Lawler

did you train in arizona for this fight?
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:34 bob
12:35 Robbie Lawler: No, I didn't go down there. I trained in Iowa for this one. I was working with a bunch of guys. Worked a little bit this week with Matt Hughes.

12:35 [Comment From mikey shawmikey shaw: ]
can't wait to see you win!!! are you looking to go after that belt?
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:35 mikey shaw
12:35 Robbie Lawler: I'm not too worried about belts right now. I'm just taking it one fight at a time and see what Strikeforce wants to do after this one.

If you moved to the UFC and could pick your first fight who would you want? Also Do you like me feel stronger when you got your beard?
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:35 Ben Marshall UK
12:35 Robbie Lawler: Georges St. Pierre.
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:35 Robbie Lawler
12:36 Robbie Lawler: I do have a beard right now. It's a light beard.
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:36 Robbie Lawler
12:36 [Comment From CraigCraig: ]
After a decade of fights do you still do it for the love of the day in/day out struggle and fighting or is it just your profession? I ask because so many fighters seem to have a love/hate relationship with the sport
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:36 Craig
12:37 Robbie Lawler: All of the above, but I like to compete, I like to push myself, I love to train. When you have a train you want to have a reason to train and that's the competition.
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:37 Robbie Lawler
12:37 Robbie Lawler: I love the training. I love getting stronger, working on skills, getting faster, I love training. I go in spurts with what I'm in the mood for, what I focus on but I like it all.
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:37 Robbie Lawler
12:38 [Comment From jeremycraigjeremycraig: ]
Would you like to be more active in 2012?
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:38 jeremycraig
12:38 Robbie Lawler: If I'm healthy I'd like to fight three or four times a year. If you get hurt it's usually in practice not in the fight. Most of us train full time, year round and just gear up a little more for a fight.
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:38 Robbie Lawler
12:39 Robbie Lawler: There's no real down time for a pro fighter.
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:39 Robbie Lawler
12:39 [Comment From LiwaiLiwai: ]
Of all the fights you been in which fight was the toughest and when you game plan isn't working what do you do as a fighter keep with it or do your own?
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:39 Liwai
12:40 Robbie Lawler: I don't know. They're all different. Fights have been tough in different ways. The Melvin Manhoef fight was very tough because I took a lot of punishment in my legs. There are also grueling fights like when I went the distance with Aaron Riley.
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:40 Robbie Lawler
12:40 [Comment From MarkMark: ]
Amagov is very unknown on the large-scale MMA scene, yet he is said to be a solid grappler with powerful striking and is a very explosive athlete. How do you approach your camp with regards to a fighter you don't know much about, but is said to be explosive and powerful with his striking much like yourself? Or are you somebody who doesn't put too much stock into what their opponent can/will do and instead focus on yourself?
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:40 Mark
12:42 Robbie Lawler: I watch his old fights and I just train as hard as I can and expect him to be at full speed. You just have to be ready. I didn't know too much about him until about three weeks ago, and that's when I watched some film.
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:42 Robbie Lawler
12:42 Robbie Lawler: Watching him, I saw that he's a good fighter, he has good strikes, he has good throws and he comes to fight.
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:42 Robbie Lawler
12:42 [Comment From ToddTodd: ]
Do you think if you talked a bit of trash you could get some deserved big name fights back in UFC. It has worked for brock, chael etc. & you are far more exciting
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:42 Todd
12:43 Robbie Lawler: No. A lot of guys talk trash. It all depends on if you're winning or not. That's how you get the big fights. It doesn't matter how much you talk, it matters what you do. If you talk a lot and you're beating people up, good. If you don't talk a lot and you beat people up you'll get the same results.

12:43 [Comment From AaronAaron: ]
What is your training like between fights? What do you do to stay in shape?
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:43 Aaron
12:44 Robbie Lawler: I do a lot of things. Spin class, lift weights, running, kickboxing, jiu jitsu, wrestling. And I do a lot more of it the further out from a fight I am. The closer I am the less I do.
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:44 Robbie Lawler
12:44 Robbie Lawler: I mix up workouts to train for power, explosiveness, endurance. It's all about mixing it up and shocking your body so you can improve.
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:44 Robbie Lawler
12:44 [Comment From BradBrad: ]
Are you worried about potential long-term health consequences from getting punched in the head a lot?
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:44 Brad
12:45 Robbie Lawler: I don't really get punched in the head a lot so I'm not too worried about it.
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:45 Robbie Lawler

What do you think of Nick Diaz's recent years success and would you like to avenge your loss to him one day before your career comes to an end?
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:45 Raul
12:46 Robbie Lawler: He's doing real well, beating people up. He fights at a high pace. I don't really worry too much about fighting him again. If it happens, it happens.

have you ever considered going back to 170
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:46 fortphilly
12:47 Robbie Lawler: Yes, I've considered it. We'll see. It's been a while since I've cut that much weight. Right now I'm pretty close to 185. If I fought at 170 I'd be spending the weigh-in day at the sauna. For tomorrow I'll cut a little bit of weight.

This is the biggest fight of Amagov's career by far, do you think that will be a factor come fight time?
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:48 Kirk
12:48 Robbie Lawler: I'm not sure. I can't speak for him.
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:48 Robbie Lawler
12:48 [Comment From Billy CBilly C: ]
How did you decide that fighting was what you wanted to do as a career?
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:48 Billy C
12:48 Robbie Lawler: Well, I did martial arts growing up. I watched boxing a lot growing up, I wrestled, did all those things. And then I decided when I was a junior in high school that this was what I wanted to do.
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:48 Robbie Lawler
12:49 Robbie Lawler: I started training with Pat Miletich in high school.
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:49 Robbie Lawler
12:50 Robbie Lawler: I went to a couple smaller MMA shows near where I lived in high school. The sport wasn't very big when I started.

Who's the toughest guy your ever fought / trained with in your career?
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:50 Foo
12:51 Robbie Lawler: I don't know if I could pick one person who's the toughest. I think fighting Melvin Manhoef was very tough. Chris Lytle was very tough too.

Would you be more satisfied with a KO or with a submission and why?
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:51 Ronnie

What is the difference between you now ad when you where in the UFC.
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:51 Jesse b from Toronto
12:52 Robbie Lawler: I'm wiser now. I'm more knowledgeable about the sport now. Getting experience being in the cage, figuring things out with my time in there.

When is your contract with Strikeforce up? Will you go to UFC when it is up?
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:52 Jonathan
12:53 Robbie Lawler: I prefer not to talk about my contract situation publicly.
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:53 Robbie Lawler
12:53 Robbie Lawler: I don't really anticipate anything about my future, I just worry about what I can control.

What should we expect to see from you on Saturday?
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:54 Carl
12:54 Robbie Lawler: As usual when I fight, just finding a way to go out there and win.
Thursday January 5, 2012 12:54 Robbie Lawler
12:55 Michael David Smith: That's it for today. Thanks to Robbie for taking the time and to all of you for reading and asking questions.
