Silva vs. Leites

I've been saying that Silva is susceptible to submissions by a good grappler. Thales Leites is 14-1 with 8 of those wins by submission. I think if he can get Anderson on his back, you might see a submission.

Granted, Silva can knock him out on the feet, but I think you'll see a sub if Thales gets him on the ground.

Leites is great but I don't think the BJJ difference between them is that huge. Not like it would be with Maia or someone like that. But you never know.

How come Marquardt got to beat Thales up so bad, and then THALES gets a shot at the title?

Seems un fair (and yes I know NM had a shot at Anderson already)

Leites isn't the level of BJJ guy its going to take to beat Anderson,
I believe Maia is going to do it if gets to Anderson.

I mean, Leites snuck past Nate, because of points lost,
he won fair and square, but he certainly didn't out perform.

are people once again forgetting that Silva as a BJJ black belt as well, just coz we dont really see him using it in the octagon, it was given by the Nog bros. Its not like he got awarded it by Matt Serra

IF he can keep Anderson grounded, and even that's a maybe. Otherwise Maia's movement standing is too slow and AS would pick him apart standing.

I'm not forgetting or disrespecting Silva's BJJ ability. It's just that he's susceptible to submissions and takedowns as demonstrated by Lutter and Henderson (except that Hendo isn't much on submissions). Guess I haven't seen enough of Leites to know how good his BJJ is. Just thinking 8/14 victories by submission is good, but, I do realize they were nobodies (but most of his victories are submissions in round 1). My real opinion is that Silva will KO him, but just wanted to open the discussion

Yeah, but Anderson won't be able to get close, Maia will get the fight to the ground.

If a dehydrated out of shape slow ass Travis Lutter can almost finish Anderson and get mount,
an in shape, prepared Maia will finish him.

He is too slick, and Anderson is a BB, but Maia is on another planet

You're the first person I know who admitted that Travis Lutter did well in that fight. I totally agree with that. I want to see AS get knocked out tho, revenge for beating Rich twice.

leites is a better grappler than lutter is lol. I could see him subbing anderson once they get to the ground. The more likely scenerio is silva by ko though.
