Basically, my son has been on a bi-pap machine since April of last year. This entire time, we thought the insurance was paying for it, but they weren't. We got a bill for almost $2,000! I am going to fight it with the insurance but I need to have this money in place just in case I do have to really pay for it.
Yes, I agree with Neez that you should fight it. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

I hope your son is OK and that you get it resolved.

Usually stuff like this is a glitch and it can just be fixed with some fight on your part. In my practice we sometimes have to recode the procedure or device and it goes through. Insurance companies can get really particular on things like that.

I am the one that pays or denies! lol. Usually we pay a certain percentage up to a certain max since the machines are rented from a company check your evidence of benefits to see what was paid into your DME benefits..You could have maxed out allowable but if you have a deductible or out of pocket max it could still be covered.

Thanks for all the replies. I'll check on all the suggestions. It's weird.. since they are saying we are renting it.. heck, I coulda bought one for the price of renting this thing. He'll always need this as far as we know.. (central apnea and they can't find the cause).

OK, so I really wanna make this trip. Is there anyway that I can crash on someone's floor & chip in towards their hotel bill instead of having to cough up all the cash for a room of my own? If I come, I'll be flying in Friday late & then leaving Sunday morning. Lemme know if anyone's willing to help a brother out.
