I ate Ostrich!

this morning the Farmers Market was in town, and there was this one farm that breed Ostrich for meat. The guy told me he was selling Ostrich Burgers...so I bought one. He told me its got a high content of protein, more so then other well eaten meats.

Its a red meat thats quite rough and textured, but once cooked its really quite smooth. Its unfortunately also quite bland. But I enjoyed it.

Got me thinking what is the most bizzare thing you've ever eaten?...and where, and when, and what was it like?

They were selling off some kinda wildboar as well...and woodpigeons...but you had to cook them yourself...if they had done tasters I'd have tried them, but I wasnt gonna buy some and cook it later

Oh and I've eaten a buffalo burger. I think that was after someone here recommended it ( what a follower I know ) It was ok, not great, not bad or weird.

When I was small, my dad used to pay me $1 to try mystery dishes...it was usually some form of small game or "vermin"...

The "normal" meats I've eaten

Beef, Pork, Chicken, Elk, Moose, Bear, Venison(deer), Rabbit, Alligator, Ostrich (jerky), Rattlesnake, Buffalo(Almost forgot that one), and more kinds of fish than I care to try and remember.

For the record, I am in no way a hunter, and most of that list was killed by my father and/or brother, who enjoy hunting and own a place in Alaska to kill the bigger stuff like Moose and Bear.

Deer, turtle, cow tongue.....I know deer is common, but I just can't swallow Bambie!!

I'm at the top of the food chain. I'll eat almost any animal they put in front of me. This does not necessarily include insects, worms, etc. I'd have to be literally starving to do that.

Oh goodness!! My uncles in Texas are hunters and they always make me sad when they talk about it! lol. I think they do it on purpose! haha!! I guess im a hypocrit cause I eat poor little chickens
