In the New Testament, the Greek word used for "sin" is actually an archery term which can be literally translated as "to miss the mark." In short, it's anything less than perfection.

If you've ever had one single, stray, impure thought in your entire life, then you've marred yourself as imperfect for all of eternity and it's impossible for you to be worthy of GOD's Kingdom. When you think about it that way, then you realize just how hopeless our situation really is and how grateful we should be that Jesus interceded for us.

AMEN!!!!

why would He create us if He didn't plan on interceding for us.

He created us for His glory. In order for us to be able to fully glorify, we needed free will, otherwise it wouldn't be true love, but rather just programmed emotions from robots. Unfortunately, we perverted that free will by choosing to sin and rebel. God could have, in His just & righteous hatred for our sins, allowed us to continue on in our rebellion and be damned for all eternity. Instead, He loved us deeply enough to intercede and, rather than judging us, He damned His perfect Son.

God didn't create us planning to intercede, but rather knowing that He'd need to.
