Where does it say that they've been officially accepted? I knew that there was going to be a vote, but I didn't hear about anything being made official.

Actually, this misspelling gives your statement a whole, new meaning.

The pastor of our local church actually sent out a letter on this very topic, because he knew that what was going to be reported in the news isn't necessarily accurate to what was decided. I won't retype the whole letter, but some key excerpts:

Quote:
Local congregations are not required to change anything by this action. A local congregation still decides who they will or will not elect and ordain to the office of elder or deacon. And a local congregation still decides who they call as pastor. Thus, the impact of this recent action to this particular church [referring to the Hillsboro Presbyterian Church] is very little at this time. (The action itself will not be in place until July 10th.)
Quote:
What this recent change to our polity will allow (again, it does not require) is for some churches or presbyteries to call "not sin" what God clearly calls "sin". Not only does it allow some churches and presbyteries to call such acts "not sin" but it allows them to call those things "blessed by God."
Quote:
Yes, this action greatly saddens me but I am not required to agree with the action nor is this local congregation required to change anything about what you now do.
Quote:
The short answer is this recent change to our denomination's polity will not impact this particular congregation as we will continue to uphold God's truth as revealed in God's Word and historically understood through the ages.
There is also a national denominational meeting coming up in August where people will discuss how local churches can respond to this most recent change.

So, it's another nail in the coffin for the Presbyterian denomination, but the burial is not complete.

Doesn't matter, you know I like you a lot. The lefties on the other threads got me going today, I blame them.

Sorry to all for going off-topic. I'm glad your church is holding strong to their beliefs, Nate.
Dave can't spell. We all know that. Let's move on.

I would be interested to know exactly what other non-Presbyterian denominations are hearing on this topic.

For me personally, I feel that as long as we have our current pastor at HPC, then this won't even be an issue. However, if he leaves and gets replaced with someone who agrees with this change, then I will withdraw my membership of the church.

my denomination is still very much in favor of calling homosexuality SIN and no minister can be gay open or not. However, i give it a few more years and they will cave just like everyone else because they are already becoming seeker frinedly on everything else
