It looks as if Rampage refuses, Machida gets the shot.

I'm bummed though, Matt and Brock are my 2 favorite fighters and it was like a dream come true to watch them both on the same night. Oh well, life's tough. Hope for a speedy recovery for Mir.

UFC moves Lesnar-Mir to UFC 100

COLUMBUS, Ohio – After initially insisting that the fight would go on as scheduled, the Ultimate Fighting Championship has decided to move the heavyweight title unification match between champion Brock Lesnar and interim champ Frank Mir from UFC 98 on May 23 in Las Vegas to UFC 100 on July 11, also in Las Vegas.

The decision was made by UFC to flip-flop the scheduled main events of the two shows. The next Rashad Evans light heavyweight championship match, originally slated for UFC 100, will instead headline the May 23 card.

Evans’ opponent will be either former champion Quinton “Rampage” Jasckon or undefeated Lyoto Machida.

Jackson, after defeating Keith Jardine in the main event of Saturday night’s UFC 96 card, earned a shot at the title. However, Jackson has fought twice in two and a half months and has to decide if he is able to handle taking the fight in May. If not, Machida has agreed to take Jackson’s place on May 23 and Jackson will fight for the title at a later date.

Mir underwent arthroscopic knee surgery earlier this week and had asked for the fight to be moved back. He had said he wouldn’t be able to spar or grapple for four to six more weeks, leaving him without enough time for a full camp to get ready in preparation for the originally scheduled date.

Yeah, he will but Rampage needs to do what's best for him. He said he has a few injuries and this fight would force him into training camp right away...AGAIN. Tough call for him.

It's even toughter for Rampage because he probably doesn't want Machida to get the title shot for the simple fact that he'd rather fight Rashad than Machida's ackward style if Machida wins the title.

I think Machida would mess him up...
I think Rashad would really need to try and wrestle machida, but still don't think it would matter.

I actually think Rashad has the best chance against Lyota than against Rampage. I think with Rashad's quickness and speed he can nuetralize alot of Lyota's strategy. Though I know he will get swept by Lyota I think Rashad can recover quick enough to negate some of that.
Rampage is in a tough spot now does he accept and go into another training camp or does he wait and see?

I think Lyoto vs Page is a much bigger fight if Machida builds up his fanbase by whoopin' Rashad, and Rampage gets the time to heal up and train.

No matter how the matchups get stacked, I'd like to see it. Lyoto impressed me in his last fight with his offense. If he fights like that always, he will definitely build a fan base.

I can just picture Evans/Lyoto fight. Evans bobbing his head around like a bobble head and Lyoto just being "elusive". Sounds boring. If they really fought instead of danced it would be a good fight.
