Yesterday reports and rumors circulated the Mixed Martial Arts Media stating that BJ Penn had pulled out of UFC 132.

Everyone in the media speculated and sourced “people close to the situation” but gave no real validation as to what actually occurred and without word from the UFC or BJ himself fans have been asking for factual information.

Originally scheduled to face Jon Fitch in a rematch at UFC 132, Penn was forced out of the match when Fitch announced a training injury that would keep him from competing. Exactly one week later, Penn himself was also removed from the card.

It is unknown whether or not the UFC will reschedule the fight between Fitch and Penn at a later date or opt for different opponents for the two fighters.

At this time we would like to validate the rumor and report this as fact. While I usually reside in sunny Southern California, tonight I sit in the east coast of the continent and at exactly 4am ET I was awaken with a phone call from BJ authorizing me to publish the announcement of his withdrawal. So without delay, I am passing this on to BJPENN.COM on behalf of Team Penn.

I know everyone would like all the details surrounding the removal from UFC 132, and either myself or BJ will get something up on the site tomorrow with more information on what is going on with “The Prodigy”

Well, maybe he wants Fitch. It will be interesting to hear what brought about his decision to withdraw.

(and I read this as "Pena outta 132"

He said he had a shoulder injury before UFC 127 and he had an MRI and decided to not fight. He said the pain worsened during training. I am so bummed..

So you think it's due to injury again, Miss Foxy? I would like to see BJ fight Fitch, I hope it's rescheduled.

He said himself it's due to injured shoulder. I am just waiting for some Penn hater to assume he's backing out of the fight.. I have a full arsenal for those people.

man .. penn is just scurred to fight rumble of condit ... LOL

j/k .. but it is odd that he is injured .. i still think he takes condit, but rumble is another story ...
