Was it in exchange for giving up their own Soverignty when they joined the Union? I mean...Texas is big enough, not encased by the Union, and has actually survived as a Soverign Republic on its own in the past hasnt it.

I still think it all depends on Texas...if Alaska, or Hawaii were to make a break, they might be too far away to cause a stir...but Texas abstaining from the Union would effect the whole of continental America.

You understand that its rare to get the Union that you guys live under to last...I know I constantly say that your only 330 years old and not very old...but for a single union to last that long, and to survive a Civil War...and for it to be so vast...its a monumental achievement unparalleled...which is the only reason I would be sad if it fell apart...coz its kinda a nice way to be IMHO

I think another Civil War is not far-fetched at all. People are fed up with the socialistic ideologies and policies coming out of Washington. Plus, as the Fed digs itself deeper and deeper into debt, federal funding for states will cease. Inflation is already taking a hold of our economy and once hyperinflation happens, there will be revolts all over the country!
