Was it in exchange for giving up their own Soverignty when they joined the Union? I mean...Texas is big enough, not encased by the Union, and has actually survived as a Soverign Republic on its own in the past hasnt it.
I still think it all depends on Texas...if Alaska, or Hawaii were to make a break, they might be too far away to cause a stir...but Texas abstaining from the Union would effect the whole of continental America.
You understand that its rare to get the Union that you guys live under to last...I know I constantly say that your only 330 years old and not very old...but for a single union to last that long, and to survive a Civil War...and for it to be so vast...its a monumental achievement unparalleled...which is the only reason I would be sad if it fell apart...coz its kinda a nice way to be IMHO
