Lightweight fighter Paul Kelly has been released by the UFC. According to Gareth Davies' Twitter account, the U.K. native, Kelly, has been cut by the UFC. The following are tweets sent out by Davies regarding Kelly: - "Paul Kelly cut nothing to do with gloves touching incident. All to do with WEC/UFC merger and lightweights" - "there are 60 lightweights on UFC roster cos UFC/WEC merger. They are cutting to 28." - "Lightweight was always going to be the worst div in UFC to suffer with WEC/UFC merger...SO many fighters..." The Team Kaobon fighter, Kelly, is coming off a loss in his most recent bout, a submission loss to Donald Cerrone at UFC 126: Silva vs. Belfort. Before the recent loss, Kelly scored a TKO win over T.J. O'Brien at UFC 123: Rampage vs. Machida. Kelly garnered a record of 5-4 during his run in the UFC. On two occasions, Kelly was awarded Fight of the Night honors; a unanimous decision win over Paul Taylor at UFC 80: Rapid Fire, and his aforementioned fight against Cerrone. |

Hes a good striker but not ufc caliber.... A dbuting wec lightweight totally dominated him.. Plus the cheapshot didnt help his case Last edited by bj44; 02-14-2011 at 09:33 PM. |

I wouldn't go as far as saying not UFC caliber.. He is a good fighter and hopefully he works on some jj/wrestling.. Hope he has a comeback in the mma world though I enjoy his fights..
