Hahaha, o man what a terrible shock this'll be for Dave! He's soooo excited to get back on the forums, only to see his darkest fears realized: both Jens & Matt are helping BJ train!

the thought crossed my mind

If he can tollerate BJ Penn, good for him....he's far more of a Christian man then I....I dont like BJ Penn, I never have done, and probably never will do, no matter if he hangs around with Matt and Jens.

...and when in a future show down, BJ Penn decides to talk smack about knowing blahs weakness from having trained with them, dont say I didnt warn you neither

No...people are entitled to do what they want, and if Matt wants to help Penn, and Jens wants to be his friend...good for them. But that wont change my opinion of Penn, neither will it stop me from making my feelings known in public

I wouldnt have advised it, I wouldnt have done it...but there we are, thats just me.

I met BJ Penn when he came to Afghanistan with three other fighters (Bisping, Condit, and Faber). He was very cool. Condit had a fight coming up, so the morning that they joined our unit on a run, Condit didn't come. Bisping just wanted to sleep. But Faber and Penn did. I got to chat with the two of them before the short four mile run and I even joked with BJ that he might wanna skip the run because I know his cardio isn't the greatest.

I understand that under those conditions, he would be a fool to be a jerk to us....but he still could have chosen to NOT come all together. Anyone of those fighters (or entertainers for that matter) that takes time out to show their support for the military (especially overseas) gets my respect.

Later.

TBH, Dave, I doubt there will ever be a future showdown. The Hughes/Penn trilogoy has been written (no matter how unsatisfactory I may find the conclusion) & Jens is working the FW circuit now while BJ is doing LW/WW. There's no worries.

I have never been quiet about the fact that BJ is one of my favorite fighters, and now he moves up even higher. Matt has to put some info about the trip in his blog.
VCU, i love the exchange program idea!!

It's probably easier to forgive, tolerate, befriend, etc someone when you've actually sat down and talked to them or shared a meal.

Honestly, Dave, in the big picture it doesn't matter what you think about BJ, but you could at least acknowledge that if someone who's traded physical blows and verbal jabs with the man can now train with, and befriend him, then perhaps he is a different person.
