What do you mean "quick week"??


Here is the back story. Some of you know that I didn't pass my last belt test at my dojo. It was the first time that had ever happened. I was not able to preform kata well enough to qualify for my next rank. I don't know what happened that day to me.. no focus at all. 5 weeks later.. I still have no clue.

In traditional karate tourneys, kobudo (weapons) goes first, then kata.. then kumite. I do not compete in Kobudo. So I am off to the side, getting warmed up...

I go and I ROCK the kata. I totally smoke the competition. My sensei comes up to me after, and in front of the whole team, tells me.. "This was your test", and promotes me to high brown in front of the team.. and about 300 other people.

I had not been awarded my medal for kata yet, but everyone knew I had won.. The promotion was a 3 inch piece of red tape..

I didn't know it was coming and was completely caught off guard. But at that moment.. I could care less about medals, over a piece of tape.

I put it on my callendar for next week...and then...I realize I was two weeks out of date

why do you not compete in Kobudo
