North Carolina AAU Karate District & State Championships

Hey All,

I am fighting in the State AAU Championship this Saturday. Any forum members close by want to come down? I have won this 2 years running in kumite and a 1st and a 2nd in Kata.

Amy and Jeff are the closest I think.

Date: Saturday, March 7, 2009
Location: Gateway YWCA, 1300 Main Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27127
Directions: From I-40 ByPass (not Business-40), Exit # 193C in Winston-Salem just a bit west of Hwy
52. Keep right and go right on Silas Creek Parkway, turn left onto S. Main Street.
Time: 9:00 – 9:30 AM Registration
9:30 - 10:00 AM Officials’ Meeting
10:00 – 2:30 PM Competition
Order of events: All Youth Weapons first, Youth Kata and Kumite in the same ring, then Adult Weapons,
Kata and Kumite including Mandatory Kata (ages 16&up), Team Kata and Kumite last

My style is classical Okinawin Te'. This later became know as karate.

Chuck Liddel's style is Hawaiian Kempo, which came from Okinawa..

Best represented in The Karate Kid.

Joint/skeletal locking and grappling methods of close range and groundfighting.

-Kobudo:
Okinawan weapons training

-Modern Weapons:
Balintawak Arnis stick and knife fighting. Tactical use and defense against firearms.

- Qigong:
Internal energy development for health and martial power. Various movements from Yang Style TaijiChuan, XingYiChuan, Baguazhang, White Crane and 5 Element Qigong are analyized from both health and martial aspects.

Earned GOLD for kata.. SILVER for Kumite..

It's a flip flop from the past two years at this tourney.. I normally win Kumite and 2nd in kata.
