Ya Roy's pretty cool too.. However I love Mir!! He's really a nice guy plus I was in a really bad motorcycle accident like he was so I have something in common with him! He's kinda someone I look up to for coming back after being told he would never fight again!!

From what I have seen of UFC contracts.. they are pretty clear.. they just don't want fighters to be able to retire with the belts... as I understand it.. Nelson's contract had him all over the place... again.. as I understand it..

I like Mur too...but, I don't see him ever really having a shot at the title again.
He was laid out by Carwin, beaten senseless by Brock, and his only wins of late have been against mediocre talent like Cro-cop and Kongo.

Big Country has only lost so far to Dos Santos - and that was a decision loss.
It makes sense to me to see him going places if he wins this one. If he loses, then he's set back. If Mur loses, he is set way back. If Mur wins, he is up, but its Big Country who isn't top 5.

It's way more than just "don't retire with the belt".

Just a year ago Dana was saying "F*** Cain Velasquez" and the other guys at AKA because they didn't want to sign away their likeness rights for 10 years. Also, the same type of clause that kept Roy Nelson contractually bound to Roy Jones is used in UFC contracts to prevent fighters from fighting for other orgs within a certain amount of time after leaving the UFC.

It's also one of the main reasons UFC couldn't sign Fedor. He wanted the option to fight elsewhere (Sambo tournament).

The UFC actually gave in to that request.

What killed the Fedor deal was the idea of co-promotion.
