I'm going to pull a Mark Hughes here and ask a seemingly easy question with a difficult answer...
What does pride mean in the biblical sense? |

It means believing that we have all the resources we need to do good in this life inside of us, thus we don't need GOD's help.
It can be summed up in one of the greatest lies of our modern world: ![]() Which is nothing more than humanistic, anti-GOD heresy.

be it lucifer's pride or adam and eves pride... pride= self-righteousness= root of all other sins nate's quote is a perfect example of self righteousness and how it is the chief and basic block between us and God that's why it is so much easier for broken people to know God |

Genesis 3:5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

Pride is at the base of almost every sin.............Dr Adrian Rogers said it best "Sin is a clenched fist in the face of God".

Pride is self reliance in all areas of ones life. Pride is thinking mans ways are better than God's ways. In ALL of your ways acknowledge him..... to do anything else is pride.

Its one of the greatest sins and best tricks used by devil because it can spun to look like good thing.
As others have said it cris-crosses over so many things. I try to remind myself everyday that I am nothing without God, my every breath is only because he lets it and all things that I do should be to bring glory to God. |

Pride is basically the belief that you are beyond the help of God, either because you are able to handle anything yourself (a NateR has mentioned), or because your are just "too bad". This second is extremely perverse because it tries to mask itself as humility and an admission of guilt: "I'm such a terrible sinner, God could never want to cover all my sins". In reality you are pridefully boasting in your ability to out-sin God's love & grace.
