Default Any chance of the UFC adding more weight classes ?

Has anyone heard information about the UFC adding more weight classes, like 165,195,235 and super heavy weight 265- 285 ?

I wouldn't count on that happening anytime soon, if ever.

Dana said in an interview it wasnt likely, but maybe years to come it would happen. Until then expect to have the WEC divisions below 155 to be incorporated into main cards, 145, 135, 125 and so on for starters.

For a 165 or 195 division? I don't see that happening. Even though there may be a legit argument for a Cruiserweight division, it would create the kind of problems that MMA fans already hate. We would have more pointless fights, and more fighters would just try and switch weight divisions as soon as they lost. I could see adding Super-Heavyweights, but it would just be classified as a freakshow by a lot of people.

One of the big things MMA fans complain about when it comes to Boxing is that there are too many weight classes and too many titles. I don't see the UFC jumping at the chance to add a bunch of Junior and Super versions of their already established weight divisions. In Boxing, it is the way it is because that's what it grew into historically. A lot of things in Boxing are imperfect, but it's also a lot harder to change because of how much history is involved. MMA has the luxury of being relatively new and can still get away with making changes and adjustments without much repercussion.

LOL, I'm just being a smart ass J.B. I'm just answering the question that was asked, so yes, there is always a chance.

Do I think it's likely to happen is a different question.

LOL, no worries, I'm a smart ass most of the time, but at the same time, as a math major, I'm kind of conditioned so to speak, to answer the question asked rather than what was meant to be asked. I do that sometimes without thinking so I seem like a **** sometimes, lol.

I wouldn't mind seeing a super heavywieght class! As long as the fighters actually did have some skill!

I dont think even the WEC had fly weight Logrus

I think they should add it though, and a super heavy...and possibly one other division between Middle Weight and Light Heavy Weight...they could call it Crusier Weight...and then they would be complete IMHO
