A thread on a discussion forum is hardly the same as a statue, but you make an interesting point. Look at what happened in both the GSP and the BJ "Celebration" threads. They were hit with a bunch of negative comments, and they weren't a celebration at all. Just like if you put a Lebron statue in Cleveland, it would be defaced. It just shows how silly people can be.
yeah that was my point, it's not that bj or gsp don't need to be celebrated, it's just that they might not oughta be celebrated here

Also there were a lot of people that gave Matt props on BJs site as well..I just don't see anyone being so extreme on here though boasting about Penn or GSP or anything to downplay Matt's legacy. i understand but it's not about giving props.... it's the whole creating a thread to "celebrate" them thing

we all voice opinions about people I just think dedicated threads are a little distasteful,,,,, BUT tyburn was not one ounce malicious when he started it, he just liked gsp, so i know there is a line of dogmatism that needs not be crossed

it's like socialism.... it would be great if people weren't people, the whole concept is awesome, but people are people

I can't say that I disagree with that at all.

Yeah specially since nobody knew who the Cavaliers where before Lebron was with them.

I think the whole problem started with the title alone for the alleged "Evil" threads. Without the celebrate in the titles it would just be another fighter discussion thread where there wouldn't be near as much hostility. I know we used to have many random fighter discussions. I also think the only one to be celebrated is the web sites name sake.

I dunno just what I think.

The threads create discussion/debate that the forum may never have seen and I think that's positive. Nobody is sensitive enough to have hurt feelings about these threads, right?
