I support this thread fully. What a great fighter. Getting knocked out in a fight against a fighter like BJ does nothing to mar an otherwise stellar career.

Matt getting knocked out in the early part of the first round against BJ didn't make me think BJ was the better fighter that night and i'm not going to try and persuade anyone it was a lucky punch either....BJ caught Matt with a clean shot that hurt him and then very quickly moved in and finished it before Matt could recover...that folks...could happen to anybody.
so to me its almost like the fight never happened.

and although i am a huge fan of GSP i still see Matt as being one of the greatest fighters the UFC has ever seen or ever will see...and that to me is worth celebrating ! !

Let's not forget that bum Joe Riggs missing weight by a pound, or Matt would be a 10 time champ ... i can't remember if the Royce fight was originally supposed to be a title fight or was a catch weight fight from the start ... or it coulda been 11 time champ ...

And 53 fights is insanity ... guys like Randy and Chuck who started roughly around the same time as Matt don't even have 30 fights each ...

Don't know how they call Randy Captain America ...

But of course!! We celebrate everyday!!
