I haven't got my list yet, Dave, but I was googling around and came across this on Wiki:

Quote:
This will be the UFC's second event in Germany and second in continental Europe. The sport has been met with severe criticism by German media, which led to the banning of minors from the first German UFC event (UFC 99).

The sport itself was actually banned from broadcast altogether in Germany in March 2010 due to the "extent of violence [being] shown to be unacceptable."

Yes, we musn't offend the delicate Germanic sensibilities, must we? Tsk, tsk.

Sooo, they don't allow the UFC to be broadcast in Germany, but they're allowing a live UFC event to take place in Germany? Are they going to broadcast the live event there?

They are hyper conscious about anything Violent, and anything Patriotic.

For obvious reasons

I am VERY suprised they would even let an MMA event happen. ESPECIALLY around Remembrance Day...when the German MMA fighters, will fight the American and British MMA Fighters.

Trust me, the Irony of that, at this time of year, will NOT be lost on the Germans, even if it was purely by accident (which I suspect it wasnt...but there we go)

The Germans have gone as far as banning the first verse of their own National Anthem because its considered too nationalistic.

"Germany, Germany, Above All Others"

I can see why they wouldnt want to sing that anymore.

Being patrotic isn't a bad thing.. Don't forget the past.. but don't hide from it either.

Anyway.. the song should go....

"Germany, Germany, Above All Others... Except for the America!"

They have been quite patriotic enough, they are now terrified of Nationalism...in the same way the only country to use weapons of mass destruction on another country during warfare is now terrified that some country will do it to them.

I seriously don't know why they are so ashamed of being Germans? Yes Hitler went to the extremes and caused a lot of Innocent deaths. The evil that came out of him and hes goons is horrible and way unacceptable. The fact is he was there for Germany when they needed him the most and he offered change and a better life for the German people. Yeah he took advantage of them but they shouldn't be ashamed or of who they are.
