You'd think he'd want to move up so he won't have to worry about it. Wasn't DW saying at the press conference yesterday how Alves is one of the top welterweights in the world. You'd think as such he would make sure to make weight.

Is it a flat 20% no matter how much over you are? I think the % should go up every so many pounds over. Give 'em more incentive to make weight or move up.

Why did I think that you were allowed 1 pound over? Maybe I'm thinking of TUF?

I loved it when Fitch said he was just glad that Alves was healthy........

Yeah, they did the towel thing. Go see my pic in the MF section
And no...I wouldn't even be interested in peeking in on fatboy. He's none of my types.

He was 171.5 so yeah, they let them have the 1 pound.

He's not really tall enough to think that way...

I am disappointed in Alves too, but the idea that he suddenly needs to be a MW is a bit premature.

This actually could spawn a whole new debate in how weight classes work, but I'm not interested in going there right now.

The bottom line is that Thiago CAN make the contracted weight of 170 and this is the second time he has failed to do so. For that, he will always get criticized and rightfully so.

It's possible that he knew he couldn't cut anymore & just said "screw it".

Thats ridiculous. I like Thiago but its disgraceful that he's not got this problem under control by now.
