I was supposed to fight in 8 days at 145 lbs. which is what I walk at. My opponent flaked out and the promoter is doing everything he can to find me someone to fight. He just told me he may have found a girl, but she weighs 120. I would have to cut 25 pounds unless she's willing to meet at a catchweight. I've been training for this fight for four months, but I've never cut before. My coaches don't think it's a good idea and that I should wait for another fight. But I've been waiting to fight for so long I'm willing to try. What do think, is it doable? Or would I be to weak.

25 pounds in 8 days would be stupid. Don't do it. I wouldn't recommend cutting more than 15 and that's assuming you have a lot of water weight to drop. If you've already been cutting and are close to dehydrated, then don't cut much more at all.

If you've never cut before, no way should you try to cut that much right now. If you do it incorrectly you can end up with all kinds of electrolyte imbalances and do severe damage to yourself. And if that's not enough to keep you from doing it, you may cut and be weak and lose to a girl who weighs 120 lbs. She'd make you look silly for being in there with her. Not cool.

25 pounds is like 20 percent of your weight
imagine matt walking around at 195 then cutting to lightweight in a week wouldn't be good |

Yeah, that seems to be the consensus. My wrestling coach doesn't even think I should cut 15 pounds. It's so frustrating to train this long for something and then not get a fight.
