Hawaii is actually a cluster of Volcanic peaks...its in the range that holds the largest mountain on earth...Mount Everest is NOT the largest Mountain on earth...its the largest Mountain above sea level...
Venture under the sea and you discover there is a most massive Mountain Range. For a start Mauna Loa is nearly thirty thousand feet high if you include the submerged part of the Island...you understand thats REALLY close to the height of Everest!
but the Tallest Mountain goes to the Extinct Volcano Mauna Kea (which incidently stand right next to Lau) It stand more then 4 thousand feet taller then Everest if you measure from base to summit.
All the Islands are peaks of Volcano, some of the islands are clusters of peaks from mountains so close together they touch above sea level..they rise all the way from the Abysal Plain of the Pacific Ocean. Usually about two thirds of the height is submerged...its frankly, amazing
