I received this letter in the mail today and thought it was interesting enough to share it with you all. This is the entire letter, I've just removed certain names to protect the identity of his family.

In case anyone is wondering, Jed Leist is the guy who tried to sue Matt over a photo in which he asked Matt to put him in a rear naked choke:
![]() He claimed that permanent injuries resulted, but ultimately dropped the false charges.

Wow.
I think that just goes to show that within time and it can be a while that things come good. More importantly, your actions, have then changed this man's life but that seed was planted a while ago, who would know this come to frution without this letter and perhaps the countless other you may of touched via your actions and words. God truly works in mysterious ways but if anything that is a message to always keep faith. |

Very cool. It really takes a lot to admit when you are wrong and to ask forgiveness.

Matt, I think he's right about God working in his life through you with everything that happened and now in ours by you posting this letter. I'm glad he's been able to come to grips with the things that have happened to him (justly or unjustly) and find God's light and love. Hopefully, everything will work out and he and his family will be reunited at some point.
Thank you for sharing! |

Growing up in church I always heard the saying Jesus is the Rock on which people break. It wasn't until I was an adult and realized that if we are Jesus' hands, feet ... etc to the world then Christ in us is also what people break on. Many people keep their faith to themselves because they have been inconvenienced by peoples reactions to God. I've said it a million times on here and in real life what I admire about Matt is his honesty with the public about his life and faith. Doesn't claim to be perfect, but does always try to do right.
What may have been a temporary bad situation for Matt, turned out to be an eternal life changing event for this young guy and in turn his whole family. Bravo .. Where would any of us be without grace. |
