Cage Fighter 'Gouged Out Friend's Heart and Eyes' in Frenzy

(NewsCore) - A mixed martial arts cage fighter who allegedly gouged out another man's heart and eyes after drinking mushroom tea is to face trial in northern California charged with murder, The Times-Standard reported Wednesday.

Jarrod Wyatt, 26, will also have to answer charges of aggravated mayhem and torture stemming from the grisly March killing of his 21-year-old friend Taylor Powell, after a Del Norte County Superior Court judge ruled Wednesday there was sufficient evidence to put the case before a jury.

Powell, of Crescent City, was killed at a home in Requa, near Klamath, early on March 21. He bled to death after his heart was removed from his body while still alive, according to his death certificate.

Deputies, responding to a 911 call, found Wyatt at the scene.

Another man had raised the alarm after allegedly seeing him naked and dripping with blood, standing over the mutilated body.

The witness told officials Wyatt had earlier been acting strangely after drinking “some kind of mushroom tea.”

Wyatt, who has pleaded not guilty to the charges, is due to re-appear in court Friday for an arraignment.

The liberal press love to do that, I notice they often headline "Iraq War Vet Commits Grisly Crime!", when being an Iraq war vet had little or nothing to do with it.

I wonder if the tea was made from "magic mushrooms" which can have a similar effect as LSD (hallucinogenic). If so, he must have had a "bad trip" and his friend had an even worse one.

You are right, but it's not a liberal/conservative thing...

MMA is viewed by the mainstream public as less than a sport, and I don't think that is going to change anytime soon.
