Default Frankie/BJ Rematch Official

They've signed for UFC 118:

Quote:
The UFC 118 lightweight title rematch between newly crowned champion Frankie Edgar and challenger BJ Penn is signed and sealed.

MMA Fighting has confirmed that both fighters have signed bout agreements to do it one more time, this time in the main event of UFC 118 at TD Garden in Boston.

The first fight, held at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi, was a razor close affair, ultimately ending with Edgar earning the stunning upset via unanimous decision.

Edgar (12-1) was a massive underdog the first time around, but used crisp boxing and sprinkled in a few rare, successful takedowns against Penn to score points with the judges, who scored the fight 50-45, 48-47 and 49-46. In reality, the fight was closer than the final scores indicated.

Once thought to be unbeatable as a lightweight, Penn fell to 15-6-1 with the loss. After congratulating Edgar on the victory, at least one member of his camp suggested that Penn was not fighting at an optimal fitness level after suffering a sinus infection during his training camp.

In the wake of the mild controversy, UFC President Dana White quickly decided upon a rematch, and now both sides are officially on board.

The Edgar-Penn fight will be the main event of UFC 118. In addition, as MMA Fighting reported earlier this week, the UFC is very close to putting the signatures on its co-main event, which will feature the MMA debut of boxer James Toney against five-time champ Randy Couture.

why wouldn't he be?
For some reason i don't see BJ even attempting to take this to the ground until the 4th or 5th if it goes that long ... BJ will try and break down Frank with punches early and if he can't he will take it to the ground ... i think BJ gasses when he grapples and works for position ... BJ with the UD or even RNC in the 4th ..

So what will the excuse be if Baby Jay loses this time???

His past 4 loses have been followed up very closely with an excuse...

Loss Frank Edgar - Sinus infection
Loss Georges St-Pierre - Greasegate
Loss Matt Hughes - Broken ribs during the fight
Loss Georges St-Pierre - "I didn't lose that fight.. just look at "Rush".. He went to the hospital.. I went to a party.."

Will Baby Jay ever just say.. "Damn he was better than me that night."???

Because he lost to Frankie in his last fight (I'll still pick BJ to win though).

i am in no way a BJ fan, but it was a close fight ... and GSP was favoured in the Serra fight even though he got ktfo in the first ... so it happens ...

Did BJ say he had a sinus infection? Or did Dana White?
and I still don't think BJ lost the first GSP fight, at all.

He isn't Rampage, I think other than Greasegate, he has taken his losses well.
He also didn't use the ribs as an excuse to lose to Matt,
the ribs broke, he lost, it was a fact lol.
I would love to see you beat Matt Hughes with broken ribs.

That's not the point...

If I fought Matt.. I would lose.. sure.. but I wouldn't use me breaking my ribs as an excuse.. "Damn... he beat the snot out of me.. I even broke some ribs during that fight..." would be about the most I would say.. not that "I would have won had I not broks some ribs"

He just always has a reason for losing.. not that he got beat.. it's "something"..that caused him to get beat.

He lost that first fight GSP.. not by a lot.. but he did lose it..
