Umm, I did not know it was a form of Alchemaic practice.... actually, I don't know what Alchemaic practice is

Well originally Alchemaic Practise was attempts to purify metals in the search for Gold....but when Christianized by various Christian Mystics, its pretty much the incorperation of Symbology into Architecture. So for example...the Church Building is designed to be read, like a book, the shapes, colours, and placement of all the items hold meaning. In a similar way, notice what the big Oberlisk in the Middle of Saint Peters Square does...it turns the Basilica into one gigantic sundial for the Year...meaning the shadow will fall on various buildings and parts of the complex and various points in the year at around sunrise and sunset. In Saint Paul's Cathedral there were Windows deliberatley placed at heights to funnel rays of sunlight onto certain objects at around the time the Evening Office begins during summer...its crazy clever.
But it goes well beyond this...one of the Chapels in Rome, when it was opened, and consecrated had a specially composed Musical piece by an important Composer of the day...and the music mathematically reflects the design of the building. The structure and melody follows schematics of the buildings interior...you wouldnt know to listen to it...I'll see if I can find it...but the number of bars reflect one thing etc..someone put an awful lot of work into putting a hidden message into something seen or heard so often noone thinks about it.
So when you stick something obvious over a background which has a recongised meaning, which you are essentially hiding in broad daylight, that is the textile equivilent to Alchemaic Practise
