Baby Hailey

First night went pretty well. I barely noticed when Kelli got up to feed her a few times through the night. She did have a screaming fit at 5am. I normally get up at 5:30 anyway so it wasn't too bad. I'm tired today but it's mostly because we went to bed so late, not because of being woken up a lot. Just had a lot to do last night and the next thing we know, it was after midnight.

The one thing I've heard a lot of new parents comment on is the sleep deprivation. Some have said it lasts the first two years. My sis says she hasn't slept well since Caleb's birth (he's 9 1/2 now). It must be an internal mom thing--always listening for your child.

Mike do you get some time off work to be at home with the baby? If so, you should be the one getting up with her in the night so that Kelli can get her rest to heal faster.

I switched jobs the day they induced her. Monday was my orientation for my new job. (Actually, same exact job but I'm now a federal employee instead of a contractor.) I had zero vacation and sick time accrued since I'd only worked one day. I was granted advanced sick leave to be with her from Tuesday through Friday. I came back to work yesterday.

So Yes, they gave me time off but I now have -32 hours of sick time so I'm not taking any more time off if I can help it. It will take me about 4 months to get back to zero.

Besides, I'm not equipped to feed Hailey.
