Default Utah execution by firing squad.....

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/36742560...me_and_courts/

Gardner, 49, was sentenced to death for killing an attorney 25 years ago during a failed escape attempt and shootout.
Of the 35 states with the death penalty on the books, Utah is the only one to use the firing squad as a method of execution since the U.S. Supreme Court reinstated capital punishment in 1976.

Ronnie Lee Gardner, 49, was given the choice of being killed by lethal injection or shot by a five-man team of executioners firing from a set of matched rifles, a rarely used relic that harkens back to Utah's territorial history.
"I would like the firing squad, please," Gardner told State court Judge Robin Reese Friday morning, after Reese told him his avenues for appeal appear to be exhausted.

Even Texas doesn't use the firing squad anymore! Awesome.

That is how Gary Gilmore from Mailer's Executioner's Song was executed as well.

That's what I would choose too. Much more exciting than lethal injection.

Actually, I'd prefer to be thrown out of a plane with no chute. Maybe I could get them to throw in a "if I live, I go free" clause.

There used to be a Clause like that in British Death Penalty, that said if someone could survive three times they could go free. It only happened once to the best of my knowledge and I cant remember what his name was, but everytime they went to hang him..the rope would snap The third time it happened, they let him off

I for one dont even think the leathal Injection should be offered...how appropriate is it to anestatise someone in a similar way that you would to a beloved pet

No...I'm all for proper methods of Execution. I think the Gallows, The Chamber, or The Chair should be in order...Fireing Squad...well a tad archaic, but why not

If I'm not mistaken, it's not an "actual" firing squad that will shoot him, but rather a gun that is controlled by a computer to shoot him right in the heart...

Not quite the same...but I could never imagine BEING on death row, let alone requesting the manner in which I will die.
