The team you are talking about was the 04-05 Suns, and that was the first year that Mike D'Antoni took over as head coach with the "8 seconds or less" mentality. In fact, the Suns have averaged between 108 and 110 points per game each season since that year, and have been ranked 1st in the league in scoring every season since then, except for 07-08 when they were ranked 3rd.
J-Rich has been our barometer for winning pretty much all season. When Richardson scores over 20 points in a game, I wanna say our record is like 30-4, and I know we have won the last 11 games where he scored over 20.
Grant Hill may be 37, but he can still play great defense and he is very smart player who makes key plays. Not to mention, even though he was plagued by injuries throughout his career, he only missed one game this season, and he didn't miss any games last season.
Barbosa has had a rough year with injuries, but he's still got some tricks up his sleeve, and he is another guy that can be a key role player. Don't get me wrong, I love Marion, Diaw, and Bell, and I was critical of Steve Kerr at first when he traded them. Still, this season now that Shaq has moved on, and Amar'e is healthy, this team has really become a very cohesive unit.
