Default Johnny Cash American VI: Ain't No Grave

Rick Rubin says that these were the final recordings and that there are no more (but somehow those things always seem to mysteriously pop up down the road).

I got a chance to give it a once over, and it's mostly what I expected. Johnny selected some great tunes as usual, and Rick's production is always top-notch. The album definitely has a very somber feel and none of the productions stood out as anything too over the top. I think the longest track was under 4 and half minutes and there are a total of 10 tracks on the album. Not a lot of fluff and filler, just straight forward Johnny Cash.

All in all, I think it's a mighty fine send-off for the original Man in Black, and anybody who is a Johnny Cash fan should stop by your local record store tomorrow when it officially goes on sale and pick up a copy so that we can see Johnny back on top of the Billboard charts for one last time!

I can no longer be a fan of Johnny Cash until Alan Belcher has his arm removed and burned ... he has forever tarnished the legacy of the man ...

I actually just read a book about Cash and he and Rubin recorded about 100 songs before Cash died according to the book.
