I grew up listening to Dick Francis books with my Dad. Those are some of my favorite memories.

Oh! I just saw this thread. I've always been crazy about horses so I too loved his books. I think I've read every one of them (some more than once!).

RIP to Dick Francis and thanks for the many hours of enjoyment.

That period of time was the LAST of the true Nobility I reckon, people who survived the World Wars and who kept alive some of the Ettiquette of the late Victorian Era. Truely inspirational characters who knew how to do their duty and how to treat their fellow men right. It soo sad because they are all so ancient now there are bearly a handful of them left. Elizabeth Windsor (dowager) died herself a few years ago, Now Dick...its very poignent
