Default Shooting in Macomb, IL

I go to school at WIU, which happens to be in macomb...the shooting/standoff is on the other side of town at Farm King...East Jackson street is closed down which is the main street in town and has most of the major businesses including walmart

MACOMB, Ill (WGEM) -- At this hour, police are involved in an alleged standoff situation with a shooter at the Farm King store on East Jackson Street in Macomb.

An eyewitness at the scene tells WGEM News that nearly 20 rounds were fired in the direction of police officers. Several businesses near the Farm King facility are moving into a lockdown state.

WGEM reporter Deandra Corinthios says that at least two ambulances and numerous police cars are on the scene. There have been no reported injuries as of 1:30 p.m.

East Jackson Street is shut down at this time to help contain the situation.

Macomb superintendent Dr. Alene Reuschel tells WGEM News the Macomb Public School District is in a standard situation safety protocol lockdown. Schools are operating as normal, but the perimeters of the building are secure. Western Illinois University has also issued its Emergency Alert System, asking students, faculty and staff to avoid East Jackson Street.

Farm King Shooting Reported; East Jackson St. Closed

MACOMB, IL A shooting incident at Farm King, 1620 E. Jackson St. in Macomb, has been reported by local police. The WIU-Macomb campus remains open.

Western students, faculty and staff are asked to avoid East Jackson Street. Police are on the scene and the area has been closed to traffic. Western's Emergency Alert System (WEAS) has been activated so individuals are aware of the situation. As always, members of the campus community are asked to be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious behavior by calling the Office of Public Safety at (309) 298-1949.

only injury was the gunman who shot himself 6 hours into the standoff, police sent in a tactical robot to survey the scene and check for any remaining hostages, robot found the gunman dead from a self-inflicted gunshot....apparently this was somewhat of national news, my grandparents live in branson on saw it on foxnews, it was on msnbc and cnn as well....I'm just glad no worthwhile people were injured

Yea for the Robot!
Glad no police had to walk in there for a chance to get shot.
