FRANK SHAMROCK VS. PAT MILETICH LIKELY FOR MAY

A bout between mixed martial arts legends Frank Shamrock (23-10-2) and Pat Miletich (29-7-2) is likely to happen in May in Strikeforce.

MMAWeekly.com learned of the news over the weekend at Strikeforce: Miami on Jan. 30 through sources close to the fight and confirmed it with Shamrock. Miletich on Monday confirmed the two have verbally agreed to face each other to fiveouncesofpain.com.

Shamrock is coming off back-to-back loses to former Strikeforce middleweight titleholder Cung Le and newly crowned Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz. Shamrock last fought in April. He has stepped in the cage five times since returning from a pseudo-retirement with a March 2006 victory over Cesar Gracie.

Miletich has fought twice in that same span. He is coming off a win over Thomas Denny a little over a year ago, his last stint in the ring, and lost to Renzo Gracie while both were coaches for the International Fight League in 2006.

Strikeforce hasn’t officially announced an event for May, but the promotion is expected to return with a major card on Showtime following its second CBS showing in April.

Shamrock and Miletich both work as broadcasters for the San Jose, Calif., based promotion when not fighting.

Pat wins this by brutal KO a month after Matt avenges his last loss.

I was just on my way to post this. Can't wait! Pat DESTROYED Thomas Denny last year, I can't wait to see him do the same to Shamrock!

This is very exciting news to me! I really really really hope they do this in San Jose and not the 22nd when my niece gets married.I wanna go!

I like Pat as much as anyone, but I dont know. if he takes it to the ground, he can beat frank, but frank hits like a truck and has a good gas tank. I dont know enough about the modern pat and modern frank to give a good answer. I hope Pat wins but I feel like frank takes this one.

I disagree. I think Pat hits harder than Frank. Pat has better boxing and wrestling. I think he will KO him like he did Thomas Denny
