Default Kimbo's Octagon Debut

http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/...0077&zoneid=13

Quote:
Spike TV on Monday issued a press release confirming the participation of Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson for “The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights” finale, which will take place on Dec. 5 at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas.

The release fell short of naming Kimbo’s opposition, indicating “Slice's opponent will be announced at a later date, pending on what transpires on the special two-hour ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ episode on Wednesday, Dec. 2.”

Strong speculation, however, indicates Kimbo will make his Octagon debut against Houston Alexander, who at a recent Nevada State Athletic Commission meeting, underwent a special licensing procedure for fighters over 35 years of age.

Kimbo fell short his first time out on The Ultimate Fighter, getting manhandled by show favorite Roy Nelson.

If Kimbo’s opponent is Alexander, it will mark the Nebraskan’s return to the UFC. Following a three-fight skid in the Octagon, Alexander fought for manager Monte Cox’s Adrenaline MMA promotion in September, where he defeated fellow UFC veteran Sherman Pendergarst in just under two minutes.

Yeah, I remember reading about this being a possible catchweight fight. I doubt Kimbo has ever done a cut in his life, it would have to take a toll on him.

Hmmm... I see Houston taking this to the ground... as much as he likes to stand and bang I see Kimbo having the advantage if it stays standing.

Good fight for the fans.

Atleast Kimbo will get a stand up fight.

The reason that I ask is this.

In the recent "state of the UFC" post that was made, where Dana addressed some issues with the UFC, one of which was the future of Chuck Liddell. At one time I distinctly remember Dana saying that Chuck was through.

With Kimbo's listed weight somewhere around 240, he has to bulk up to fight at HW, but he'd have to cut down (and ultimately be a bigger LHW) to fight at LHW.

Could a possible matchup with Chuck Liddell against Kimbo headline a UFC card? Not because of Kimbo, but because of Chuck?

Later.
