OK, I know we've already had a thread like this, but I creating this thread for two reasons:

My "requirements" are slightly different than Mark's were (I think Llama started the other one...)
I'm too lazy to look for the other thread.

OK, so my friend Alex feels fairly comfortable with most self-defense situations, but the thing that worries him the most is fists coming at his face. He knows (mentally) what to do, but his instincts/reflexes still make him through his hands out & blink. To that end, we've begun some ridiculously light sparring, just to get him used to punches coming at him.

This being said, we want to get some gloves. We've throwing open-palm strikes (a la King of Pancrase) for safety, but we're also nervous about accidental thumbs/fingers to the eyes.

So, we're looking for a coupla pairs of cheap gloves that won't disintegrate in a week. I don't need high-quality gloves that would hold up to sparring class at a legit gym, just useful ones that can handle a coupla amateurs pitter-pattering away a coupla times a week.

O, I can find low-priced gloves no problem, but I'd rather get advice/reviews from trusted sources like y'all as opposed to anonymous names on eBay or whatever.
