Default Carwin talks Fedor

Excerpt from an interview on FightLine.com:

Quote:
FightLine.com: You've caught some flack from the internet community for your comments directed to Fedor Emelianenko, saying that he has been fed opponents. Do you feel that's why he didn't sign with the UFC? What are your overall thoughts on Fedor?

Shane Carwin: I didn't say that Fedor was fed opponents. What I said was his handlers are putting him in risky situations. You would be hard pressed to find any MMA fighter that would not have Fedor as their number 1 or 2 best fighters EVER in MMA. When you put the best fighter in the world on shows that draw a lot less then the UFC, you risk the legacy that Fedor has built if and when he loses. We are all beatable and sometimes you can have clearly won and still lost on the judges scorecard. It's not too different then putting Hagler in with Sugar Ray, it wasn't like Sugar Ray could have finished Hagler and the risk was the guy with all the hype could dazzle the crowd and get the win. I am not disrespecting Fedor, I am just saying the elite heavyweights are in the UFC.

My comments were in response to Strikeforce's comments that the UFC does not have any good heavyweights. Guys like Brock, Nog, Couture, Mir, Dos Santos and Kongo says they are incorrect in those statements.

FL: While we're talking about Fedor, one fight that Dana White was trying to make was Fedor vs. Lesnar, before Fedor ended up signing with Strikeforce. How do you think a fight between the two would have went?

Carwin: I think that Fedor would beat Brock.

Sounds fair.

I don't think the UFC has no HW's,
but I also don't think they have more than 2 or 3 interesting fights for Fedor.
The same as Strikeforce has.

It is all a matter a matter of opinion.
But in mine....
Lesnar / Carwin / Mayyybe Dos Santos or Mir? I dunno...
(Not Nog, they've fought 3 times)

Strikeforce / Dream has....
Barnett (In Japan, its on) / Verdum / and... Rogers I guess...

I guess for me its a matter of not seeing anybody really pose a threat,
every time Fedor fights I just know he is going to win.
When I think of exiting fights I think of fights that I don't know who will win.

you must have made a fortune betting then if you know the outcomes of Fedor's fights.

When was the last time you were honestly worried Fedor might lose?
O_O

Honestly.. Maybe Cro Cop in 2005.
Before that Nog in 2004.
Fedor is on another level than most HW's,
that is why he is who he is. So yeah, usually you just know he is going to win.

Fedor will get knocked out in the first round on November 7th. Rogers is a very scary fighter who knocked out A.A quicker than anyone I have ever seen knock A.A out. fedor was having problems with A.A. Rogers is going to be the guy that the UFC wishes they would have got. Not Fedor.

I don't really know what you mean by "problems".

Fedor didn't rush, he KOed AA to sleep in the first,
Rogers did it faster, but AA was also awake when the fight was stopped,
not face down on the mat for several minutes.
Also, rushing in on somebody with heavy hands like AA is a mistake,
it worked out for Rogers, but still risky.
Rushing in on Fedor won't work, sorry kiddo.

Rogers is huge, and packs power,
but beyond size and strength I don't see where you feel there is a threat.

That is you God given right.

So you disagree that God is not evil.
You disagree that Matt is a great fighter.
You disagree that Fedor will not be knocked out by Rogers.

You are going to see that Fedor is beatable. And he will under estimate Rogers which is what everyone else has done. Bad mistake.

Look what I am trying to say to all you people is that you get in your heads that people like Anderson Silva, Fedor and Machida are unbeatable. Out of the three I think Anderson is the best p4p. Fedore has beat some good opponents but no one that has been on a really good fight win streak lately. I still think he was scared to go to the UFC. I think Brock would murder him. I think Fedor is fed fights and to gain respect you have to have the UFC title. No other title matters anymore. People don't know who the other champions are. But people know UFC champions. Past and present.
