This captures the problem to a large extent. If Johnson really is walking around at a fairly solid 220, cutting to 170 is not only unrealistic on a consistent basis (as you age, you put on more mass naturally) but also unhealthy. However, I don't think this is going away - bigger doesn't necessarily equal better, but in a matchup of equal fighters in terms of skill, being bigger/stronger helps quite a bit. The only real solution, imo, is tougher financial/ranking penalties for fighters who miss weight - put the incentive on giuys to make it, or hit them where it hurts.
