IMO you do not have to be a fighter to prove something.

i agree.

some fighters may fight to prove something (frank mir must be one of them) and more power to them if so. but not all fighters need or have to prove anything at all.

i think a good example of fighters who don't have anything to prove are the people like anderson silva, wanderlei, matt hughes, noguiera, couture, rich franklin, fedor, people like that. to them it is a martial art that they simply enjoy doing, and it's a form of income so they can support their family. but they have nothing to prove. some people are computer programmers, some are painters, some are martial artists. it's a job and a way of life

I also think maybe for the guys who really want to prove something its hard to understand how somebody else can be a fighter and not worried about proving something / shutting people up. They seem to have an issue with fighters who aren't in it for fame / glory.
