What's even scarier is that Democrats aren't even afraid to refer to themselves as Socialists, Communists or Progressives anymore. That just shows how far we have fallen.

No, we have many different political parties, it's just that the Republican and Democrat parties are the largest and most successful at this point in time (which hasn't always been the case). We even have American Communist and American Nazi parties. It's just that the "third parties" almost never get enough votes to actually make it into the higher offices.

Here's a listing of many of America's political parties with a short description of their basic platform:
