Default How would you build your super-hero team?

OK, so I've actually run into this discussion a coupla times in the past few weeks with a coupla different people & I thought it'd be fun to see what y'all thought. I guess what I want to know is would you pick a single "super-star" and build a team around them (a la the LA Lakers) or would you get a bunch of role-players who exceed in their areas of expertise (a la the New England Patriots)? What would you look for in each case? What kind of super-star would you want or what roles would you like your team members to fulfill? Would you pick by styles, jobs, powers, personalities, or something else?

Are you talking about athletes? If so, then doesn't this belong in the sports section?

The title of the thread is "How would you build your super-hero team". I mean, if you were tasked with creating the next X-men/Avengers/JLA/etc., how would you go about it. I just used the sports analogies to try & make everything clearer. Guess that back-fired on me!

Yeah, athletes are hardly superheroes and the ones that are should probably get drug tested.

I'd pick by personalities, because the characters need to have good chemistry otherwise I don't care. Also, team that are constantly in-fighting get really tiresome, really quickly. So putting Hawkeye and Wolverine on a team with the Human Torch is probably not the best of ideas.

Anyways, I would pick a team that chooses to be together (like the Avengers) over a team that feels that they need to be together (like the X-Men). So if I were to pick a "perfect" Avengers team, it would be:

Captain America - the heart of the team
Iron Man - the unlimited resources
Thor - the muscle
Ant-Man/Giant Man (Hank Pym) - the brains
The Wasp (Janet Pym) - the fashion-conscious nymphomaniac
Beast - the comic relief
Wonder Man - the tortured soul
Ms. Marvel - the straight-laced female hero
Hulk - the random variable

Well, I would build mine around specialities, kind of like a business if you will. I would love to have this great 'empire' if you will. I would break it down into departments:

Brains:

1) Iron Man-- Super good engineer and flippin rich
2) Hank Pym----Good physics guy
3) The beast---really good biochemist
4) Bruce Banner---when he is not the hulk, hes is pretty smart

Muscle and Strength

1) The hulk
2) Thor
3) Silver surfer---- come on he has power cosmic

Combat Specialists

1) The Punisher---if you could get him to join
2) Deadpool
3) Captain America

Stealth People

1) Spiderman
2) Black panther
3) Daredevil

Mystic Type Power

1) Doctor Strange
2) Ghost Rider

For other more sensitive matters

1) Black Cat--spidermans old Girlfriend
2) Miss Marvel
3) Elektra
4) Black Widow
5) Scarlette Witch

Well thats my ultimate empire list. Im not sure if this can actually be comic book, or if it is just more of this "dream" that I have.

Just a question, why is Batman considered a superhero? Is he not a mere mortal with a lot of cool gadgets? Might as well make Inspector Gadget a superhero too than
