I really don't care what Pope Benedict has to say. The Pontiff is not a biblical office, and he certainly doesn't "speak for God" anymore than any other pastor or priest. I'd care more what a Junior Representative has to say about this. He could actually affect my life.

The "papcy" is not a Biblical Office outside of Church Tradition. But the "Pontiffical" system is Biblical, its outlined by the Apostle Paul to His friend called Titus.

"Pontiff" just means Bishop...it doesnt automatically mean "pope" "THE Pontiff" is usually used by Rome to Refer to the Pope, but they dont own the word.

Many people do look to him and his guidance even if some people don't.

He certainly represents the largest denomination of Christianity, and the Oldest Current Established Church. I think, like anyone in high office he should be respected also. I'm not a Roman Catholic, but, I still enjoy listening to what the Pope (any Pope) might have to say...its about widening the perameters of public opinion on Religion and morality for me.

You are exactlly right Dave, whatever way the Pope plays an important part in this world and he represents and fights for christianity. That is something to be respected annd reverent to even if one may disagree on certain viewpoints.

I guess to some Rome may as well be a Iman preaching the word of Islam to the masses!

There are people on this site that would claim the Roman Catholic Church is not to be acknowledged as a Denomination of Christianity. I struggle to understand it myself. Its a view ive only ever heard on this Forum

Even though I am not a practicing Catholic I am glad to hear he approves of Christianity Online. The reason being is the church is making an attempt to get with the times finally!! More power to him and its nice to have the mans blessing Catholic or not he is a man of God.
