Starting June 1st, I'll be teaching "Beginner's MMA" on Mondays for the Evo Fight Club. Al Buck and Alex Sholomisky asked me if I would start and teach a new class just for beginners. I have to give up my Monday night volleyball league but I'm happy to do it. We want people to join and learn without feeling overwhelmed or intimidated by the more experienced fighters. I won't be teaching much Jiu Jitsu because beginners will still be encouraged to attend our Wednesday JJ classes. They'll also be encouraged to attend our Saturday class which will be mixed with experienced fighters but the beginners won't be allowed to do any live sparring until they've shown they're competent enough to do it without getting hurt badly.
I look forward to teaching the class. They say the best way to get better at something is to teach someone else. The classes will be about 1.5 hours long with technical instruction, drills and conditioning. I'll get to teach people some skills and whip them into shape as well. Should be fun and I'll make some extra loot too. |

I've taught a few privates to to friends and picked up some extra cash. I'm not a fighter or anything but If I can make 20-30 dollars an hour for teaching someone a simple armbar why not. |

I teach at my dojo also.. it's a blast.. I do all kids classes on Mondays and the Basic adult class.. I have taught some of the advanced students.
Make sure you use your students names... even the adults that are just learning, they really like it. When we are doing drills, if someone isn't getting it right.. I will make my way near them and call yame(stop).. "now let's review this.. ".. then give another demonstration of "whatever". That way your giving someone a little extra attention, while ensuring that the others that have it down, get to see you do it again. My warmups are brutal..... Good luck.. keep us posted!!!
