Why not put up a good fight if it isn't to punish Dana?

Maybe to punish the fans? Maybe to commit career suicide? I don't know. People interpret things differently. Heck, Bonnie suggested that the Silva/Leites fight could be a complete work.

My question is, why do it at all?

If he wants to get under the skin of the UFC, there are a lot better ways then that. All this has done has bring negative attention on to himself. Sure, Dana has to feel a little uncomfortable explaining things in interviews, but it's Silva who is taking all the heat from fans for not being exciting, not the company. Silva could vanish from the face of the earth and the UFC would still continue on, virtually unscathed. Making himself look boring only lowers his stock and it does not help him in any way.

i don't think anderson is trying to send a message.

he had 7 straight spectacular finishes in a row, and now he finally gets 2 decisions and everyone is suddenly freaking out and speculating things now. big deal. you can't ALWAYS pull off a spectacular finish every single fight. it's just not possible. decisions will come eventually. i, among many other professional fighters think his performance was amazing. he dominated a top fighter and made it look easy. leites completely gave up by the 3rd round and everytime anderson engaged, leites fell to his butt like a little bitch. leites is a ground expertise so of course he let him up just like all the other greats do in that siutaion (franklin, wanderlei, fedor, crocop, henderson, sakuraba, etc) to be honest i'm really tired of people blaming this all on anderson and speculating like this. it takes two to tango.

give anderson a fighter who actually WANTS to fight and isn't scared walking into the cage (like franklin or henderson) and then you will see them bring the best out of anderson again. at his level he needs better, more well rounded fighters to motivate him more IMO. give him GSP or let him fight a top fighter at 205 now. i promise you if that happens he will shine again. if someone falls on their butt against anderson, that's cowardice and that's also makes for a boring fight. he wants someone who will FIGHT. if someone comes out with balls, he will destroy them like all the others
