Default Dale's Harley-Davidson

From Matt's blog:

Quote:
Last week, I went to Salt Lake City and trained at Jeremy Horn's Elite Fitness. Jeremy has a great group of guys there to work out with. Joe Doerksen was in town training for a fight and so was Houston Alexander, who also fights on the May 23rd card. In addition to those guys, I also brought Matt Pena out to work on striking, so it worked out good for me. I was there for one reason only: to train. Seems like that's all I did out there was train, eat and rest. So, I want to say thanks to Jeremy for allowing me out there.

I came home Saturday morning early and went to Dale's Harley-Davidson and did an autograph session for them. As always, I had a good time. The guys down at Dale's are great to work with and all the people that came through the line were very respectful. One of the reasons why I like the Midwest so much. After that, I quickly came home and spent some time with the family. Here are a few pictures from the autograph signing:

This week we had some fighters from the HIT Squad compete. At the Pro Battle event in Arkansas, Amir Khillah won at 1:55 of the first round by rear naked choke; Brian Foster knocked out his opponent in the first 7 seconds of his fight; Evan George won his amateur debut by doctor stoppage in the first round. For the M-1 Global event in Bulgaria, Whisper Goodman won his fight by knockout in the second round. So, good job, guys!

Here is an email I received and thought I ought to pass it on:

Beautiful Lesson!!!

The girl in the picture is Katie Kirkpatrick, she is 21. Next to her, her fiancÚ, Nick, 23. The picture was taken shortly before their wedding ceremony, held on January 11, 2005 in the US. Katie has terminal cancer and spend hours a day receiving medication. In the picture, Nick is waiting for her on one of the many sessions of chemo to end.

In spite of all the pain, organ failures, and morphine shots, Katie is going along with her wedding and took care of every detail. The dress had to be adjusted a few times due to her constant weight loss

An unusual accessory at the party was the oxygen tube that Katie used throughout the ceremony and reception as well. The other couple in the picture are Nick's parents. Excited to see her son marrying his high school sweetheart.

Katie, in her wheelchair with the oxygen tube, listening a song from her husband and friends.

At the reception, Katie had to take a few rests. The pain does not allow her to be standing up for long periods.

Katie died five days after her wedding day. Watching a women so ill and weak getting married and with a smile on her face makes us think..... Happiness is reachable, no matter how long it last. We should stop making our lives complicated.

Life is short
Break the rules
forgive quickly
kiss passionately, love truly
laugh constantly
And never stop smiling
no matter how strange life is
Life is not always the party we expected to be
but as long as we are here, we should smile and be grateful.

I am at a loss for words. I think its amazing she fought till the end and married her love. She's a beatiful bride no matter what, the Cancer did not destroy that beautiful face and smile. Thats a hero in my eyes. I feel so sad though, but I see and hear the message..
*Rest in Peace Katie* <3

What did Matt stand on to suddenly become taller than the blonde chick?

The last story that was an email about the girl with cancer who married her high school sweetheart reminds me of that movie A Walk to Remember. I think it is awesome that the man stepped up and married her knowing she was going to die.

I thought she just ducked down, but I think you're right, Amy.

Was she wearing heels? I wore boots with a good heel on them in VA to make myself taller. Otherwise Matt and I are the same height.

Cancer is evil. I know all to well with my own battle that it drains you . I admire the women's foritude to do all she did. It just shows we all whine to much about lifes problems when there is always someone in worst shape then ourselves.

What a cool blog matt, it was cool, and touching for the soul.

Life is really short, and that was a great example of how fleeting it is.

Thanks for the reminder Matt, and Nate.
