Default Anthony Pettis was admitted to the hospital last night with a nasty staph infection

No pics, don't worry...yet...

I scraped my knee on the mats last year, and even though I thoroughly scrubbed it and put soap and disinfectant all over it, it still got infected. I worked on the Top Ten Staph Infections in MMA History, so I had a good idea of what was happening to my knee, even though my doctor didn't diagnose me with staph until weeks after my first visit. I basically had what looked like a pizza bagel on my knee with bubbles growing out of it. I couldn't walk with pants on, it was too painful brushing against the mess on my leg. I couldn't bend my knee correctly, I was completely lethargic, I barfed, it was really horrible. I actually got really lucky too. With the thin skin on my knee that could've gone much worse than it did. Part of me is grateful for the infection though, consider it an act of method MMA media. And before you ask, yes I think baseball journalists should be beaned before receiving a paycheck, football analysts should be tackled and yelled at by Ray Lewis and NBA commentators should be elbowed by Metta World Peace. It puts things in perspective.

Bottom line: flesh eating infections like staph suck, and I can relate a bit to what Anthony Pettis is going through. Pettis' manager, Mike Roberts, told MMA Weekly that Pettis had been admitted to the hospital yesterday after a staph infection was discovered 'in his elbow' during training. It doesn't look like anything horribly serious, but precautions were wisely made. Get better Anthony, the last thing we want to see is a nasty Showtime' staph infection. Well, I guess we do kind of want to see it...

When it really comes down to it though, you don't need your elbows to pull off the Showtime Kick.
