So i understand there is quite a furore about this programme.

After rave reviews over here, i started watching and am on the fourth series and really enjoy it.

Anyone else a fan?

Loved the first season and the Barksdale gang! Some real great acting.

The Series keeps hitting me hard with some of the deaths!

Can't stand marlo and the new crew!

Just on Season Five now, i agree, Season Two was weaker.

I just finished reading "Homicide: A Year On The Killing Streets" by David Simon. Simon is an executive producer and writer for "The Wire". I thoroughly enjoyed "Homicide" so I am planning to select DVDs of "The Wire" from Netflix and watch them.

Fans of "The Wire" might consider reading "Homicide". David Simon spent one year (January 1, 1988 until December 31, 1988) shadowing the detectives of the homicide unit in Baltimore. He wrote about the major cases that the detectives investigated as well as the behind the scenes politics in the city and police department, the morbid sense of humor of the detectives, the depravity of the criminal class in Baltimore and the personality quirks of the individual officers. It is a long book at just under 650 pages but I found it to be an interesting read.
