Default Wanderlei Silva Out- Vitor Belfort In against Chael- Now #1 Contender Fight

Just like the title says, Wanderlei Silva has been pulled out of the fight against Chael Sonnen at UFC 175. Apparently Wandy ran away from a random drug test and therefore won't be able to get licensed.

Vitor has stepped in. The fight will be at 205 lbs, but the winner of the Vitor vs Chael fight at UFC 175 will fight the winner of Lyoto Machida vs Chris Weidman for the Middleweight title. That is as long as Vitor can get licensed by the NSAC.

i like this fight, but i hate the fact that the winner at 205 gets a shot at the 185 strap ... shows the lack of depth in the 185 field but also show how little merit earning a title shot actually holds ... dumb

sooo apparently chael sonnen failed a random drug test and he's outta the fight ... wand was pulled from the fight because he didn't take the test .. and vitor was having a hard time getting a license because his level of T were too high from a test back earlier this year .. they should all be cut, this makes the ufc look ridiculous

I just heard this. Chael is supposed to address the issue later today.

we'll see what he has to say ..... i see him getting at least a year suspension .. sure he is going to say he was taking it to treat his hypogonadism, but they were still banned substances ...

The speculation is that he will claim it is used to help restart testosterone production and that was the reason. But you are absolutely right that they are both banned substances.

The worse part was how much he bashed Wanderlei for skipping the test, yet he takes it and gets popped. If Wandy just would have taken it (and passed) he would have come up roses.

An article I read said it was two "anti-estrogen" drugs. Why is he taking this...is it related to his testosterone problem and now not being able to take the trt? When I looked it up, it just talked about in relation to breast cancer.

So now what is going on with these 3? Is Vitor done now too? We probably won't see Chael or Wandy ever fight again, but I still think Vitor might get a high profile fight....

Any thoughts?

Chael retired and has been suspended indefinitely. He will have a formal hearing in the future. Vitor is not licensed and when he applies he will have to answer to the failed test in February. Wandy met with the commission last week and admitted to running due to having diuretics in his system. He will likely be suspended here soon also.
