Default Does America do The Proms??

I honnestly dont know...but in England, every year there are a number of concerts known as "The Proms" where famous, or beautiful choral or classical music is performed.

The most well known concert is "The Last Night Of The Proms" which is always hosted at The Royal Albert Hall, and is Televised on national terrestrial TV. The last Third of this Concert is ALWAYS the same, and includes all the British Patriotic Classics, Rule Brittania, Land of Hope and Glory, and Jerusalem.

Obviously the Proms end with a rendition of the British National Anthem...but its rather odd. Far from the Grandiose Coronational Version...the Proms only ever play the Version that was written by Benjamin Britten. The unique thing about this version, is that the first verse is written into a MINOR Key...it turns the music from pomp, into, something very haunting...watch for this version to become VERY popular when Elizabeth dies.

I wonder if anyone has written different settings for the US Anthem...I remember once comming across an organ improvisation which cast parts into a minor key...it has a startling effect on any patriotic song.

Thats not Proms, thats a Ball

Do you not even have some kind of Military Proms? We used to, now they are downsized but still exist I think.

Is a good example of the Royal Navy Hymn and a Fanfare known as Sunset, which is my favourite military style antiphone.

We also do a Festival of Remembrance each year at the Royal Albert Hall, where a remnant of all the serving forces who fought in the world wars are present.

One presumes you do something similar on Memorial Day or something like that
